Versions

Hello,
Is there anyway to change a version name? For example, instead of "Version 23" could I change that to a unique name like "March Promotion"?
Thanks!

Yes. Before you click the preview or publish button, you can change that version comments message to be a custom message of your choice. Just click on the text field that says "Version #" and replace that text with your custom message, then click the preview or publish button.
Thanks so much Julia!
Another question about Versions - I thought the changes between versions would be highlighted, but I am not finding that in my versions. Is this something it's supposed to do?
Thanks!

No, there isn't any change highlighting, just a preview of how the older and new versions look side by side.
Thanks again Julia!
Still one more question about versions :) Are we able to see the history of a page regarding themes and page types that have been used on the page? (I noticed that when I changed the theme of a page, all versions had the new theme.)
Thanks!
Thanks!
I know that in the latest version of concrete5, page type and theme changes are included in Page Versions. I don't believe they were included before 5.6.1.
Thank you - I have the newest C5 installed and it seems to work when an individual page design is edited, but not when the default template of of the whole site is changed. When the default template of the whole site is changed it shows the new template all the way back to version 1. Are there any reporting features for a page theme/page type history?
Yes, you are right, Page Versions only track what was done to the individual page, not actions that affect all pages or a set of pages.
I don't think there's anywhere those changes are tracked. It doesn't look like Basic Workflow covers that. However Enterprise workflow might allow you to track this, but that's a multi-step workflow system made for large organizations with a lot of people editing the site. If you want more info on that, you can find it here (it's not part of the core, and it costs money):

I found on the C5 website at this link it says...
http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/general-topics/versions/...
“To see the differences between versions click the checkboxes of the two version in question and then click Compare. While not perfect, this view will try to highlight things that have been removed in red, and added in green.”
Was this in an older version?

This is the current version of that documentation:

I believe that functionality was removed over time since it didn't work as people expected.

Julia - Thanks, you are the best! Have a good night.
