what is DIR_REL

Am learning the power of concrete5 and was wondering what DIR_REL is

If you install C5 under a subdirectory of your domain, say domain.com/cms/ and not the root like domain.com, DIR_REL will have a relative path after the domain name.
In this example DIR_REL will be '/cms'
