Will there ever be a way to set up private message groups (send to multiple users through profile at one time)

Hello,
I see various threads every now and then about this and I wanted to bring it up again. I have a very real need athttp://www.azselfstorage.org for this capability. Specifically, it would be hugely advantageous to be able to create, for instance, a Board Member contact group in a profile and be able to send everyone in that group a message at the same time so it could be permanently memorialized in the site.
Any thoughts? This seems more like a Core Team issue rather than an add-on...
