Separating created thumbnail folder from original uploaded files

Hi, Is there a way to separate generated thumbnails by C5 from the original uploaded file? Maybe store all thumbnails in /files/cache. The reason is I don't want to add thumbnails to my repo. What seems more logical to me is to push only original files …

I added 4 columns to a page and put an image in each column. It stays 4 across until 768px and then it stacks ( one column ).. I'm trying to get to change to two columns until 480px then stack . Any Ideas ?? Thanks Bob
